About Elena

I grew up in Helena, MT watching my mom garden. I didn’t really enjoy helping her as a child, but I did LOVE picking flowers. 

After learning more about plants in college, I fell in love with the entire process. Since then, I’ve been devoted to understanding as much as I can about plants and how people interact with them.

My first and middle name together mean “Light (Elena) Song (Chantel)”. I’m proud to be using the name given to me by my mother (Martha Johnson, 1954-2019) to share her legacy of love and gardening with you.
